An Immersive Field Trip Experience for 3rd and 4th Grade Students

Program Overview

Health World Education is thrilled to invite your 3rd or 4th grade students to Horsense Western Heritage Days – a full-day, hands-on educational adventure celebrating Arizona’s rich Western heritage!

This engaging field trip brings history, culture, and the Sonoran Desert to life through interactive rotations, storytelling, and outdoor exploration. Students will gain a deeper appreciation for Arizona's Indigenous people, cowboy traditions, desert wildlife, and natural environment – all while building connections to health, safety, and respect for nature.

Hosted at the iconic MacDonald’s Ranch (family-owned since 1956), a premier Western adventure destination on 1,280 acres of pristine Sonoran Desert in North Scottsdale.

Arrival Time: Please arrive by 9:45 AM.
Buses can unload at the front entrance, where a Health World Education team member will greet your group and guide you to the program area.

Typical Daily Schedule

  • 9:45 AM – Arrival & Welcome
  • 9:50 – 10:10 AM – Desert Train Ride
    Enjoy a scenic ride through the desert and spot native plants and animals.
  • 10:10 – 10:35 AM – Rotation 1: Animals of the Desert
  • 10:40 – 11:05 AM – Rotation 2: Indigenous Foods and Sampling
  • 11:10 – 11:35 AM – Rotation 3: Navajo Indian Dancing OR History of the Buffalo Soldiers
  • 11:40 – 12:05 PM – Rotation 4: Cowboy History
  • 12:05 – 12:50 PM – Outdoor Lunch with Western Music and Storytelling
  • *Schedule is subject to change.

Rotations are interactive, age-appropriate, and aligned with Arizona social studies and science standards.
